The life in expatriation in Poland does not raise major difficulties, in spite of an unfavorable climate. There are no problems of safety, except the thievery of wallets and identity papers, the thievery of cars and burglings.
In Poland Central European Time (CET) is used. The metric system is applied for measurements of distances (kilometres - km), velocity (kilometres per hour - km/h), and capacity (litres - 1l = 1 dm3).
The voltage in a socket is 220 volts; a plug consists of two round pins.
The standard for telephone plugs is the RJ11, or Polish national 5-pin (WT-4) coupled with a RJ11 socket in older installations.
