The Polish transport infrastructure is wide but badly maintained in the Eastern part of the country. The road network requires significant investments, as road freight harms at the already alarming state of the roads. Thanks to the ambitious programs and provided that the financings will follow, the country intends to extend the 400 current kilometers of motorways in Poland to about 2500 in 2015. With approximately 23 000 kilometers of railroad, the railway density is comparable to that of the countries of western Europe. All the significant cities are connected between them.
